Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)

A single, focused undergraduate degree — regulated, clinical, and built for independent practice. Four years of academic coursework followed by a full year of supervised clinical internship.

What you study

From anatomy to the internship ward

The first two years build the medical-science foundation — anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, pathology and pharmacology — alongside the early tools of the profession: exercise therapy and electrotherapy.

Years three and four move into speciality practice: orthopaedic, neurological and cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, community-based rehabilitation, and paediatric, geriatric and women's health physiotherapy, backed by hospital postings.

The final year is a twelve-month compulsory rotatory internship — full-time, supervised clinical training across OPD, IPD, neuro-rehab, cardio-pulmonary, sports injury and community outreach postings, before independent practice.

Where you’ll train

Labs that match every stage of the course

Each phase of the BPT has a dedicated practical space on campus, so theory is followed by hands-on practice the same week.

Anatomy lab with an articulated skeleton, organ models and bone specimens
Year I–II

Anatomy lab

Skeleton, organ, brain, spine and joint models alongside bone specimens for anatomy and physiology practicals.

Exercise therapy and electrotherapy lab with treatment couch and electrotherapy units
Year I–II

Exercise therapy & electrotherapy

Couches, mats and electrotherapy units where students learn therapeutic exercise and electro-physical modalities.

Rehabilitation lab with tilt table, shoulder wheel and quadriceps chair
Year III–IV

Rehabilitation lab

Tilt table, shoulder wheel, quadriceps chair and hand-function equipment for orthopaedic and neuro rehabilitation.

Scope & outcomes

What a BPT degree opens up

Independent clinical practice

Under the NCAHP Act, 2021, a physiotherapist with a baccalaureate degree is qualified to examine, evaluate, and treat independently or within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Hospitals, sport & rehab centres

Graduates move into orthopaedic and neuro-rehabilitation units, sports science teams, geriatric and paediatric care, and community health programmes.

Postgraduate specialisation

A BPT is the entry qualification for Master's-level specialisation in orthopaedics, neurology, sports, cardiopulmonary and paediatric physiotherapy — and for academic careers.
